The MMD Sizer was deployed at Sac-Tun mine in Mexico as the only crusher able to effectively size the site's coral limestone. The honeycomb-like structure of the material means it is elastic - deforming under compression rather than breaking. Because the MMD Sizer breaks rock under tension and sheer rather than just compression, it is able to effectively cut through the limestone and avoid its natural resistance to compression. The Sizer has now been working at Sac-Tun for over 30 years, significantly increasing their production rate whilst simultaneously reducing their energy demands.
