Weir Secures Contract for North America’s Largest Mill Circuit Pump Installation

The Weir Group PLC (Weir) has been awarded a contract to supply WARMAN® slurry pumps and CAVEX® hydrocyclones to Teck’s Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Mine Life Extension (MLE) project in Canada. Designed to extend the mine’s lifespan and support increased copper demand, the MLE project will rely on Weir's WARMAN® MCR® 760, now set to be the largest mill circuit pump installed in North America. This high-capacity pump is engineered to handle significant flow rates, addressing a global shift toward increased throughput in response to declining ore grades.

The WARMAN® MCR® 760, alongside Weir’s CAVEX® hydrocyclones, is expected to enhance HVC’s production efficiency by reducing maintenance intervals and maximizing operational reliability. Weir’s local service center in Kamloops, British Columbia, will support the installation, providing on-site maintenance and parts to minimize downtime and maintain equipment performance.

“Weir has a proven track record of supplying and supporting the largest, highest-capacity mill pumps on the market. Designing and supporting pumps of this scale presents unique challenges, which our team of experts, with decades of global experience, are equipped to meet.” said Quinton Sutherland, Divisional Senior Product Manager for Pumps at Weir.
