Caterpillar Reaffirms Commitment to Large Mining Trucks Amid Energy Transition

Caterpillar Inc. has reinforced its dedication to providing modular design choices for its large mining trucks, offering diesel mechanical, diesel electric, and battery electric powertrain options. These designs align with Caterpillar’s broader strategy to support customers’ sustainability and operational goals while enhancing machine value throughout its lifecycle. The company continues to integrate site solutions for its customers during the energy transition.

Leveraging insights from its Early Learner battery electric truck program, Caterpillar is applying a common platform approach to its ultra-class trucks, including models such as the Cat 794, 796, and 798. This platform will allow for flexibility in powertrain choices while maintaining compatibility with the recently launched Cat Dynamic Energy Transfer system, designed to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and operating costs.
